Installed on October 17th, 2000, in coordination with the YWCA’s Week Without Violence “The Tribute to Women” was created to celebrate the passionate spirit of women who volunteer in our community. This sculpture recognizes the significant achievement of women’s organizations. The hope is to inspire young women to step forward and meet challenges that will continue to face women of all ages. The artist Karen Daniels used metal, granite, quarry rock and welding techniques to join the vital elements of earth, fire and air in tribute to women.
